So many responsibilities…
Endless expectations…
So many you could let down…
Someone always looking up to you…
Acting sure when you’re so unsure...
Being strong when you want to cry…
Being an example so those behind you will have an example...
Doing the right thing when you sometimes want to be the baby...
Being the bigger person…
Protecting them...
Defending them…
Teaching them how to tie their shoes...
Encouraging them...
Helping them pick their clothes...
Sharing your things with them...
Sharing your friendships with them…
Having to take them everywhere you go…
Holding them when they cry or get in trouble…
Telling them it will be ok and things will be better…
Always having to hear “You’re the oldest “or “You’re responsible
for your brother or sister”
Letting them know you love them...
Being the oldest …
You can’t shelter them anymore.
You can’t protect them anymore.
You can’t make decisions for them anymore.
You have to let them live their life and hope for the best.
Sometimes you feel like a parent but you’re just the oldest.
You pray to God they never forget the things you taught
them.
You hope they learned something from you.
Through it all...you've became true friends.
Being the oldest…
You will never stop worrying, caring, being overbearing, expecting more, seeing all their true potential, their abilities, and hoping they see it too.
Being the Oldest- is a lifetime job.
