Living Holy, Who said it was Easy...

In a conversation with another sister in Christ, the comment was made that living Holy isn't easy, because of all the sin in the world everywhere you go. Well, I can agree it is not easy especially for someone new in Christ. Many of us see people doing it everyday and you wonder, How do they do it ? or Do they ever get tempted?

Psalm 101:1-4

I will sing of mercy and justice;
To You, O LORD, I will sing praises.
2
I will behave wisely in a perfect way.
Oh, when will You come to me?
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3
I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
4
A perverse heart shall depart from me;
I will not know wickedness.

Yes, everyone gets tempted, but you do not have to give in to temptation. Even the devil tempted Jesus while he was fasting. And to say your never tempted isn't true, because we are flesh but everyone may not have the same temptation.  One person may not feel tempted in one thing while that same thing could be a temptation to someone else.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
We must learn how to rise above temptation and separate ourselves spiritually & naturally from ungodly things that will tempt us.

Ps. 37:31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

We might even have to release some friendships that seem to bring us back to the past we are giving up for Christ. Yes, that is hard, to give up years of friendships just to maintain a Holy lifestyle. I want you to know that God will send you friends with the same belief and thoughts as he and you. They will be people you can pray with, sing praises with, and enjoy God with them as well. You will no longer feel you have to hide your beliefs to keep a friend. If they are real friends they will respect your lifestyle change and not persecute you.

Sometimes it seems like your losing a lot but actually your gaining more than you can imagine.

 Matt. 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Also to keep a solid foundation in Christ you must stay in your word. You have to keep reading the Bible and learning the steps to being like Christ. The Bible shows you how to live with sin all around you and be above it.  When you are feeling tempted to slip back, you will have the word of God hidden in your heart and able to repeat God's word in times of distress or weakness. You can even use it to help friends and family, you know will benefit from God's wisdom.
 Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

As women, we have to break free from ungodly relationships and not enter into relationships with gentlemen who look good but we know their not good for you.  The feeling of loneliness will try to come up on you but again you will rise above it.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Rise above your emotions. Rise above your flesh. Rise above and be lifted up. Why? Because you uplift the name of Jesus he will continue to elevate you!

1 Corinthians 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Jesus has been the best example of a disciplined person in life. If fasting was needed, He Fasted. Prayer needed, he prayed. Time to teach, he taught.  He was always quick to move when the word of God was given, spoken, and heard. When you read the life of Christ, you can see how important disciplined lifestyle is for men & women of God.

Proverbs 25:28  A person without self-control is as defenseless as a city with broken-down walls.

Image is Everything...

My Vintage Looks
 When your coming to church...Image is Everything!

How you present yourself says something, the question is, What do you want to say? Many people debate this topic over and over again but I am not here to debate. I am here to educate. If you can wear the right apparel for job interviews than why not to church? And you can do as the employer ask in the dress code but find it offensive by the church to be asked to dress a certain way. Come on Women of GOD!

Proverbs 31:25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

  25Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]!

As a young woman in the church and ministry, I have learned how to present myself to the body of Christ in order to be received, because my purpose/message is bigger than my attire so why debate over it? So, You haven't been to church in a while and if your like me you want to stay fashionable.

Remember when your getting dressed for church service that you are not going to the mall, kicking it with your friends, or school. You are going to church. This is the Kingdom of God and we must remember that when we are getting dressed for church.

For example, if you put on an outfit and your first thought is "Wow, this makes me look sexy" Sexy should not be your agenda when attending church. I am sorry. God does not want to know how sexy you can dress in his temple.

Nor does God want to know how great your legs look in heels so, please bring the skirt length down. I'm sorry. That is not why we come to church. We should not aim to be a distraction in the church. That is not our goal. Yes, your beautiful! You must believe that even without dressing that way in church. We are Queens and Princesses in God's kingdom and we should look that way at all times. What  I am saying is, you can look fashion trendy, holy, and acceptable to Jesus Christ all at the same time.

Everyone expects church to take you as you are even after you have come to the knowledge of what is right. It is just like a job, you might wear one thing and they tell you hey, the employer say no to that, be honest we will not wear it again. Why? Cause we want to keep our job but we feel that God gets what I give him. We should dress as royalty, clothing ourselves in righteousness and holiness. God should be the one shining through us.

One thing my Pastor always tells us, God will bring the conviction and change so, you do not have to tell people, you just walk in it and God will do the rest. When your really after God own heart, you will do it, cause your sincere about God but those of you who know better but do whatever, Lets do better for the King. It is all to the King.

Take value in your attire. Dress as a Virtuous Woman. Walk as a Holy woman.
