Living Holy, Who said it was Easy...

In a conversation with another sister in Christ, the comment was made that living Holy isn't easy, because of all the sin in the world everywhere you go. Well, I can agree it is not easy especially for someone new in Christ. Many of us see people doing it everyday and you wonder, How do they do it ? or Do they ever get tempted?

Psalm 101:1-4

I will sing of mercy and justice;
To You, O LORD, I will sing praises.
2
I will behave wisely in a perfect way.
Oh, when will You come to me?
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3
I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
4
A perverse heart shall depart from me;
I will not know wickedness.

Yes, everyone gets tempted, but you do not have to give in to temptation. Even the devil tempted Jesus while he was fasting. And to say your never tempted isn't true, because we are flesh but everyone may not have the same temptation.  One person may not feel tempted in one thing while that same thing could be a temptation to someone else.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
We must learn how to rise above temptation and separate ourselves spiritually & naturally from ungodly things that will tempt us.

Ps. 37:31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

We might even have to release some friendships that seem to bring us back to the past we are giving up for Christ. Yes, that is hard, to give up years of friendships just to maintain a Holy lifestyle. I want you to know that God will send you friends with the same belief and thoughts as he and you. They will be people you can pray with, sing praises with, and enjoy God with them as well. You will no longer feel you have to hide your beliefs to keep a friend. If they are real friends they will respect your lifestyle change and not persecute you.

Sometimes it seems like your losing a lot but actually your gaining more than you can imagine.

 Matt. 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Also to keep a solid foundation in Christ you must stay in your word. You have to keep reading the Bible and learning the steps to being like Christ. The Bible shows you how to live with sin all around you and be above it.  When you are feeling tempted to slip back, you will have the word of God hidden in your heart and able to repeat God's word in times of distress or weakness. You can even use it to help friends and family, you know will benefit from God's wisdom.
 Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

As women, we have to break free from ungodly relationships and not enter into relationships with gentlemen who look good but we know their not good for you.  The feeling of loneliness will try to come up on you but again you will rise above it.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Rise above your emotions. Rise above your flesh. Rise above and be lifted up. Why? Because you uplift the name of Jesus he will continue to elevate you!

1 Corinthians 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Jesus has been the best example of a disciplined person in life. If fasting was needed, He Fasted. Prayer needed, he prayed. Time to teach, he taught.  He was always quick to move when the word of God was given, spoken, and heard. When you read the life of Christ, you can see how important disciplined lifestyle is for men & women of God.

Proverbs 25:28  A person without self-control is as defenseless as a city with broken-down walls.
